@vgtmhl would you prefer this solution over an actual separation between "open" and "completed" tasks. We're considering making the todo lists consist of an "open" and "completed" view so that you don't have to delete tasks by hand after completing them.
If your idea is to have the to-do entry auto-delete itself once it's marked as completed (or once all of its subtask are marked as completed), then I would not be a fan of it:
Simply because, since I use this for my workflow at my job, at the end of the day I go through my completed to-dos and I use them to track the time in the company tool
If that's not what you're suggesting, then I'm open to other solutions :D
Even just a "clear widget content" menu entry would be just fine
My suggestion would be as follows (see the draft below): your todo-widget has 2 different views that you can select/toggle.
One for "open" tasks. One for "completed". This way you always have a history, but once a task is completed it will move from the "Open" to the "Completed" view. In the complete view, there could be a reference to "date/time completed".
